Announcement - Reserves coaching position

The club can confirm that regretfully, Nic McCaig has recently decided to step away from the Reserves coaching role due to personal and time commitments.

A former Mulgrave player, Nic has coached the reserves since 2018 and has been instrumental in the club’s focus on player development, with a large number of players having graduated from reserves to senior football during his tenure.

It’s the commitment of people like Nic that has underpinned the club during what has been a very difficult period for footy overall.

While he’s stepping away from his current role, it’s certainly not goodbye to Donuts! He’s a passionate Mulgrave person and we look forward to seeing him very often around the club and in the Mully Grubs tent.

“Donuts’ effort and passion to see an improvement from the playing list was evident every time he took charge,” said Football Manager David Rowland.

“We will definitely miss that passion from the coaching area but hopefully we will see it from the crowd as he enters a different phase of his association with the MFC.”

Nic’s decision creates an opportunity within the coaching group, and we’re excited to announce that Mitch Peddle has accepted the role of Reserves Coach for 2022.

Since joining Mulgrave from Glen Waverley Rovers many years ago, Mitch has played well over 100 games for the club. He now enters the next step of his footy journey in coaching.

The club is very happy to see another Mulgrave player take on this role – the development of our players remains a key focus, and this includes planning for the future beyond playing.

“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to lead such a promising group,” said Mitch. “I can’t wait to get stuck in and build on the gains we made in the past season.”

Please join us in thanking Nic for his enormous contribution, and congratulating Mitch on his new role.
