President's update: October 18 2020

By Scott Davidson | Sunday, October 18th 2020

I do hope you're all well and are looking forward to the weekend - not only a Tigers win but the possibility of rebooting some form of normal life.

It's been a while since my last communication. I think for a period I just lost faith in the purpose of planning when it just didn’t appear we were ever going to get any certainty.

Well the sun is out, it's spring, the footy is almost over, and we need to start to plan for next season - and we're busy and re-energized.

  • We've been re-drafting the club constitution, which was mandated by council. We needed to update to what is required by consumer affairs and model rules. The new version will be posted and circulated and will form part of the 2020 AGM.

  • Ash will set the AGM date. We're looking to hold it some time in November when we're confident of holding a live meeting.

  • Our intent is to present the financials for the 2020 season, but also to present our budget for the 2021 season so all of our members can understand not only where we've been, but where we plan to go. We'll also outline in the football reports the effects of salary cap changes and the appointments of all of our coaching staff.

  • An update will also be given on the facility redevelopment, which has now been fully approved and funded to the tune of $4 million. Construction looks like starting in May 2021.

Please note our annual $5,000 draw has been turned into a digital event and the prize has been reduced to $2,500 based on the fact we can’t have a bar. The draw in this Friday night - AFL Grand Final Eve - and Sean and the leadership group have been circulating communications on how to enter and monitor the draw on the night. Please do what you can to support the club by buying a ticket for $25.

To our sponsors and the many members who have purchased membership packages for 2020, additional $2,500 draw tickets are being allocated to you. I'll be reaching out to tell you all where to check on your ticketing and how to join in on the fun.

We're all frustrated with how 2020 has played out, but it is what it is and we just need to move on and, more than ever, appreciate the simple things in life - like your football club.

Stay safe and stay in touch.
